Berlin - Too Much To Do Here

Now I know why people spend a week in Germany's revitalized capital city - cheap kebabs and really good cosmo cuisine, 40 museums and a palace that is supposed to be on par with Versailles, and the fact that you now have to book your spot at the Reichstag 2 days before you want to visit.

Yes there's too much to do in Berlin and I think an extra night wouldn't have been enough. It's the sort of place that wants you to stay. That explains the cosmopolitan nature of the city. This place draws people from all over the world yet it has the highest unemployment rate in the whole of Germany.

Every corner of a street or building has some history tied to it - even a regular house in the neighborhood as you'll see with the plaques dedicated to the memory of the Rosenthals who were a Jewish family who perished in Auschwitz.

Berlin. I'll be back. Back with an appointment to see the Reichstag. Back to see a restored bombed out church in Kurferstendamm.

Finally, I must say that the Berlin experience wouldn't be complete without going on its highly convoluted but efficient and subterranean train system. Again, humble old Wiitenbergplatz, Alexanderplatz & Sophia-Charlotte Platz U-Bahn stations have some interesting pieces of history tied to them.
