Florence - Day 1 (plus a bit of Milan)

Just one photo tonight because I've had a pretty epic day. It started off with me finally seeing the Last Supper mural in Milan - truly amazing that. Hard to believe the same guy who did the petite Mona Lisa did this massive mural of thirteen men on a church wall.

Then after sifting through the crowds of people waiting to see the Pope speak at the Duomo in Milan, I was off on first class to Florence courtesy of my Eurail pass.

Thanks to my friend from school days, Anastasia, I was given the ultimate Florentine experience of gelato and apertivo with her friends.

It's my first time in Florence and the place has just blown me away with its beauty, ugliness and hordes of tourists. If this is truly Italy, then wow imagine me with Naples or Rome.

Anyway I've got a few days to explore the heart of Tuscany so will put more photos up eventually.

But I can't believe I've seen Florence in the flesh at last. :-)
